Philippine Airlines replacing A340 with A330-300 HGW to Honolulu

Philippine Airlines is all set to switch its aircraft on Honolulu-Manila route. The airline recently announced it will be introducing a new A330-300 HGW aircraft in place of its existing A340-300 service. The airline is presently operating three flights every week to Honolulu utilizing its A340-300 aircraft.

Philippine Airlines however announced that it will be gradually increasing the frequencies on this route over next few months. The airline said that it will begin daily flights between Honolulu and Manila effective from December 11, 2014 with the help of the Airbus A330-300 HGW aircraft.

The new aircraft will be configured with three classes and has the capacity to accommodate 368 passengers. The airline will offer 18 Business Class seats, 27 Premium Economy seats and 323 Economy Class seats.

While providing details about the new Airbus A330-300 HGW aircraft, Philippine Airlines said that the customers traveling in Economy Class will be offered wireless in-flight entertainment enabling them to stream live content on their tablets and smartphones. However, iPad tablets are also available for rent in Economy Class to those not traveling with either tablets or smartphones.

The airline will provide complimentary iPad tablets for in-flight entertainment to passengers traveling in Business Class. Philippine Airlines also said that its business class fliers will be offered spacious cabin with a 60-inch seat pitch. The seats are convertible and become a fully flat bed for sleeping purposes.

The airline further said that its customers will be able to make use of its GSM and Wi-Fi service for making calls and browsing the internet on board their flights. The services will however be offered for a fee.
