Philippine Airlines to increase frequencies on Guam-Manila route

Philippine Airlines has announced it will be increasing its flight frequencies between Guam and Manila. The airline will now make five days weekly direct flights to a daily service.
 
The airline in a statement said that the daily service is scheduled to start by late October 2014. Philippine Airlines will now be adding flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays to its existing 5-day Guam-Manila service.

The move to launch a daily service has come after a ruling by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in April this year allowing the airline to increase frequencies on its Guam-Manila route.
 
The FAA recently upgraded Philippines’ rating in April this year moving it from Category 2 to Category 1. The rating acknowledges the improvement in terms of international safety standards for the maintenance and operations of aircrafts in the country.

So long as Category 2 continued to be in place, the airlines in Philippines were barred from increasing the frequencies of its flights or to launch U.S.-bound flights.
 
Meanwhile, in yet another development Philippine Airlines has indicated that it will upgrade its aircraft on Honolulu-Manila route. The airline will now be introducing the larger Airbus A330-300 HGW to operate flights on this route. The airline will replace the existing Airbus A340-300 aircraft from December 11, 2014.

According to the airline, with the launch of the new Airbus A330-300 HGW aircraft it will start operating a daily service instead of the existing thrice weekly flights. The aircraft will be configured with 323 economy class seats in a 3-3-3 layout. The new aircraft will also be equipped with GSM and Wi-Fi capability, and will be offered to the passengers for a fee.
