Precautions to be taken while carrying items on Planes

Air travel is a wonderful experience. The fun gets doubled when you are able to book air tickets for cheap rates. However, there are a few things such as what you can carry on board and of what weight that must be factored in to ensure that the experience stays plesant. A little careless aproach to these factors can throw your traveling gaiety off.

With the growing security threats around the world the rules and regulations pertaining to air travel are becoming stiffer. When you buy airline tickets and start making your travel plans, you also need to be well aware about the essentials that you are going to carry during your journey.

It is every traveler’s desire to save as much money he/she can by buying inexpensive flight tickets. This is, however, possible when you make some extra efforts by spending some time at the internet and checking out various travel websites. By doing so you’ll get an opportunity to compare airline prices and be able to get good airline discount on your tickets. However, when you have already bought your tickets and reach the airport, sometimes you might have to confront awkward situation at the security checkup with your travel luggage. You just might have to throw some of the stuff out of your luggage and end up repacking as the airport authorities won’t allow you to carry some of the restricted items. This might bother you and make you momentarily feel unhappy. To avoid facing such situations at the airport you need to pay attention to the travel luggage rules and policies.

Most of the airlines allow you to carry liquid items on flights, though under certain conditions. The amount of the liquids and the way they are to be carried depends on the applicable rules. The airlines usually follow “3-1-1” rule, which allows carrying most liquids, aerosols and gels so long as they are carried in 3.4 ounce or less containers that should be placed in a clear, 1 quart, plastic, zip-top bag. Only one such liquid container bag is, however, allowed for each traveler to carry along with him/her. According to the “3-1-1” rule, the following food and liquid items are allowed to be carried, such as creamy dips and spreads (jam, butter, cheese); mascara; facial creams and lotions; hair gels and shampoos; jellies; gravy; cologne; cranberry sauce; food gift baskets; maple syrup; oils and vinegars; perfumes; water; salad dressings; salsa; sauces; soups; and wine, liquor or beer. Thus, these are some of the items that are allowed to be carried as part of your travel luggage. Knowing the rules pertaining to air travel beforehand always helps, and it would be best for you to know them before leaving for the airport.
