Qantas Airways faces stiff business class competition from Chinese airlines

Qantas Airways business class flights are facing stiff competition nowadays from various Chinese airlines. The airline said that its international operations are facing huge losses and are under great pressure, particularly in business class on long-haul routes.

Travel experts said that discounted airfares had been commonplace for Economy Class tickets and has now reached the business class. Even in the peak season the passengers can now get great discounts on return business class fares from Melbourne to Europe.

Media reports also pointed out that various Chinese airlines are ramping up their capacity on routes to Australia, leading to cheap return business class tickets between east-coast cities and Europe.

The reports also said that the Chinese airlines had been aggressive in discounting fares as they vigorously try to build market share on routes to Australia. China Southern Airlines has revealed its intention to more than triple flights to Australia to more than 110 within the next four years.
