Qantas Airways reducing flights to Los Angeles from December 18

Australia’s national carrier recently announced it will be reducing its flights services to Los Angeles from both Melbourne and Sydney. The airline is presently operating flights to Los Angeles from Sydney twice daily with the help of an Airbus A380 aircraft and a Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

The Australian carrier said that it will be its flights on Sydney-Los Angeles route effective from December 18, 2015. The route is being presently served with the help of a Boeing 747-400 aircraft on Mondays and Thursdays. The airline also indicated that it will further reduce two flights being operated on Wednesdays and Fridays effective from January 23, 2016.

The reduced service will see Qantas Airways operating a daily Airbus A380 service between Sydney and Los Angeles from January 23. The airline will also offer thrice weekly service on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Apart from Sydney-Los Angeles route, Qantas Airways will also be reducing frequencies on its Melbourne-Los Angeles route. The airline is presently operating ten-time weekly flights services between the two cities.

The Los Angeles-Melbourne route is being presently served with a daily Airbus A380 service and a three-time weekly service on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with the help of a Boeing 747 aircraft. The airline also said that the outbound Boeing 747 flights on Sunday from Melbourne would no longer operate from January 27. The airline will also stop operating the Boeing 747 service on Friday from Los Angeles.

A spokesperson of Qantas Airways said that the move of the airline comes as part of its joint venture agreement with partner Oneworld carrier American Airlines.
