Qantas Airways to close its first class lounge at Singapore

Australia’s national flag carrier Qantas Airways recently announced it has decided to close its first class lounge at Singapore’s Changi International Airport.

With the closure of the lounge for passengers booking first class flights, Changi International Airport will now be left with only one lounge for business class passengers being operated by Qantas Airways. The business class lounge can also be used by Platinum and Gold frequent flyers.

The move by Qantas Airways has come after re-evaluating the role of Singapore in the wake of its alliance with Emirates Airline.

The airline in a statement said that with its flagship Airbus A380 aircrafts now being moved to operate flights on Sydney-Dubai-London route, there would in fact be no passengers booking first class tickets to/from Singapore.

Qantas Airways had started renovations for its first class lounge at Changi International Airport earlier this year. The airline was to inaugurate the first class lounge by year’s end. The lounge was being designed on the lines of Qantas Airways’ first class lounges in Melbourne and Sydney.
