Australia’s national carrier Qantas Airways has announced it will be increasing its frequencies on Dallas/Fort Worth-Sydney route in April next year.
The airline, which is currently operating six-time weekly flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) from Sydney (SYD), will transform it to a daily service. The passengers travelling between the two destinations will be offered a total of 3,300 seats per week after flights are conducted daily.
The service on the route, considered to be the world’s longest scheduled passenger flight with flight duration of nearly 16 hours, will be operated with the help of an Airbus A380 aircraft. The airline first started operating nonstop flights to Dallas/Fort Worth starting from 2011 utilizing a Boeing 747 aircraft. Later on, the flights on the route started being conducted with Airbus A380 aircraft last fall.
Qantas Airways has partnered with American Airlines and 13 other carriers. Apart from this, Qantas Airways, which is a member of Oneworld alliance, is also a joint-venture partner of American Airlines on transpacific routes to New Zealand and Australia.
John Ackerman, Executive Vice President for Global Strategy and Development at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, said, “The airline is delighted to add its seventh weekly frequency to its hugely popular Dallas/Fort Worth-Sydney route. The airline’s A380 service now becoming daily vividly demonstrates that the DFW market is going from strength to strength. The route is also extremely vital for business and leisure customers because of the additional convenience and choices that they are being offered."
