Qantas Airways wins Best Business Class Cellar award in London

Qantas Airways, also called The Flying Kangaroo, expressed jubilation on winning five awards at the annual Cellars in the Sky Awards at a ceremony in London which concluded recently.  The airline was adjudged for serving the best wines on its business class flights. The airline in a statement said that it was presented with the ‘Best Business Class Cellar’ award.
 
Qantas Airways said that it also won awards in four other categories. These include ‘Best Overall Wine Cellar’, ‘Best First Class Cellar’, ‘Best First Class White Wine’ and ‘Best First Class Sparkling Wine’. The airline’s Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2009 emerged as the winner in the Best First Class White Wine category. The airline’s Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2000 was adjudged for the Best First Class Sparkling Wine award.

The Cellars in the Sky Awards are being presented ever since it was launched in 1985. The awards are presented based on the quality of wines that are served to customers booking first class and cheap business class tickets on board their flights.

By winning the five awards this year, Qantas Airways has surpassed other airlines in winning these many awards for the consecutive fifth year. Alison Webster, Qantas Airways’ Executive Manager Customer Experience, said that the airline was extremely proud with its collection of in-flight wines. He said that the airline will continue to offer the best Australian wines to its customers.
