Qantas to Open New Business Class Lounge on June 17 at LAX

The all new Qantas Business Class Lounge will open on June 17 at Los Angeles International Airport. This lounge will offer a modern preflight space for travelers flying on Oneworld flights. This will also incorporate those of lounge partners Cathay Pacific and British Airways.

Business Class Lounge is just the phase 1 of the LAX lounge project launched by the airline. The second phase is the launch of a First Class Lounge, which is due by the year end. By offering a new standard of opulence for business class passengers, the airline will make the much-necessitated substitute of the cramped Qantas/Oneworld lounge presently existing at the airport.

The look and feel of the lounge will draw its inspiration from parts of California and the US, just like the way Qantas business class lounges at Singapore and Hong Kong have been designed. Circular internal fireplace, around which passengers can sit, will be the centerpiece of this lounge.

The lounge menu will have a regional twist just like its counterparts in Singapore and Hong Kong. Neil Perry, consulting chef at Qantas said that we promise to offer the very best quality of airport lounge food, offered till date in the US. The food served here will be very much like the ‘LA street food’ concept, implying that it will be a mix of Korean, Mexican, Italian and more. The lounge will boast of an eating area with a kitchen view, with separate bar providing signature cocktails.

Located at the stylish Tom Bradley International Terminal, the lounge will be three times bigger than its present facility, making it the biggest and by far the best lounge at the terminal. With a total area of 1,675 square meters, the lounge will be able to accommodate 400 passengers in one go.

Simon Hickey, Qantas International CEO said, the present Qantas lounge is way too small. We for long needed a bigger and modern lounge. And now finally on June 17 we will offer the same to our elite passengers. Bigger space was needed more so because the lounge will be commonly shared by Qantas, British Airways and Cathay Pacific passengers. All the three airlines clubbed together offer eight flights every day from the Los Angeles International Airport.
