Qatar Airways recently became the first airline in the world to launch flights to the United States with its newly acquired Airbus A350 aircraft. The airline conducted its maiden flight to New York JFK from Doha on December 8, 2015.
Apart from being the global launch carrier of the A350, Qatar Airways has also become the first airline to fly the aircraft to three continents – North America, Asia and Europe. The airline presently owns a fleet of seven Airbus A350 aircrafts and operates twice daily flights to Frankfurt, once daily flight to Munich and thrice daily flights to Singapore from Doha.
Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways, said, “The airline is looking forward to include an eight A350 in the fleet before 2015 end. The company will also launch daily flights to Philadelphia from Doha starting January 1, 2016 with the help of A350.”
Al Baker further stated that more Airbus A350 aircrafts are expected to join the airline’s fleet throughout 2016. The airline plans to deploy these aircrafts on new international routes or increase frequencies. With the new aircrafts joining the airline’s fleet, Qatar Airways will be launching new flights to Boston from March 16. The airline is also planning to introduce a second daily flight to New York starting April 1, while new flights to Adelaide (Australia) will be launched from May 2.
Qatar Airways is presently aggressively implementing its expansion plans. The airline is currently offering flights services to eight destinations in North America. These destinations include Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Montreal, Houston, Miami, Dallas and Chicago.
