Qatar Airways launches Doha-Philadelphia flights

Qatar Airways recently launched its nonstop daily flights between Doha and Philadelphia. The inaugural flight landed at 7.30 am at Philadelphia International Airport on April 2, 2014. The airline deployed Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft, which carried 250 passengers, including the airline’s CEO Akbar Al Baker. The return flight departed for Doha International Airport at 10.15 am.

With new flights to Philadelphia, Qatar Airways has now started serving its fifth destination in the United States. The new service has come as a boon for travelers from Philadelphia as they will now be provided seamless access to destinations in the Middle East, India, Asia and Africa.

President and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau Jack Ferguson said that the Philadelphia business community would be greatly benefitted with the new service as various parts of the world would be easily accessible for them. He said that Qatar Airways is famous world over as a five-star airline and is known to offer best facilities to those purchasing business class tickets for their travel.

Ferguson said that the merger of US Airways with American Airlines has already started paying dividends globally. With Qatar Airways entering the fray now in Philadelphia will give a boost to air travel in the region and strengthen it as a favored destination.

Philadelphia is a premier destination for tradeshows and conventions. Nearly 40 percent of the tradeshows here are global. The new flights are expected to benefit the medical institutions and healthcare companies in Philadelphia to expand their reach globally.

Qatar Airways has now joined hands with American Airlines Group and signed a codeshare and ticketing pacts with American Airlines and US Airways. The airline expects to benefit from this arrangement and hopes to provide convenient connections to its customers offering them opportunity to travel to 136 destinations across the world from its Doha hub.
