Qatar Airways to increase capacity on Berlin flights from Dec 1

Qatar Airways, leading Middle East carrier and national airline of State of Qatar, has indicated that it will be increasing its capacity on Berlin flights by the end of this year. Media reports quoted a top official of Qatar Airways as saying that the number of seats will be doubled on flights to and from Berlin effective from December 1, 2013. Increased demand has necessitated the airline’s move.

Qatar Airways has been offering flights services to Berlin for the past eight years now. The airline has until now been operating 144-seat Airbus A320 aircraft configured with two classes. The flights are being operated four times per week. According to the airline, the doubling of the capacity from December 1 will see the airline operating a larger 272-seat two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

The airline said that a substantial capacity boost will also see passengers getting improved services on its cheap business class flights. The passengers would be offered angled lie-flat business class seats with 60 inches legroom. The passengers are until now being offered recliner seats in business class with 45 inches legroom. The airline has not yet decided to offer fully-flat beds on its Airbus A330-200 aircraft to be operated on its Berlin route.
