Qatar Airways unveils new Business Class menu

Qatar Airways recently launched its new Business Class menu as part of its ambitious “”Be a Traveler, Not a Passenger”” campaign. The airline has tied up with celebrity chefs Nobu Matsuhisa and Vineet Bhatia for designing a new creative menu.

Nobu Matsuhisa is a globally renowned chef and hails from Japan, while Mumbai-born Vineet Bhatia, a three-time Michelin star winner, currently owns a restaurant in London named ''Rasoi''. Apart from this, Bhatia also owns a number of hotel restaurants in different parts of the world. Both Matsuhisa and Bhatia spent months together testing and adapting their foods and ensured that the innovative dishes they had created were suitable for long-haul flights.

While announcing the launch of its new business class menu, Qatar Airways treated mediapersons to simptuous cuisines on board a Boeing 777 at New York JFK. The journalists were first offered a welcome Brut Champagne from the producer Billecart-Salmon. They were then served a first course of mint soup and pea with crème fraîche.  The main dinner offerings included roasted root vegetables, parsley mashed potato, and braised lamb shank with chickpea and saffron sauce.

The process of selecting wines on board the flights was explained by Master of Wine James  Cluer. He explained that the passenger''s nasal cavity dries out during the flight and palate fatigue sets in. In order to overcome this physiological effect, wines with low tannin, high fruit, and not overly-acidic characteristics are selected. 

Qatar Airways offers a 2-2-2 configuration in business class cabins on its Boeing 777 aircraft. Among other amenities offered on business class flights include seats with massage functions, headphones from Bose, linens by Frette, and amenity kit by Giorgio Armani.
