Qatar to launch business-class only flights to London

Qatar Airways has a pleasant surprise for its business class travelers. The gulf carrier announced its decision to launch a business-class-only flight between Doha and London. The new flight is set to debut on May 15, 2014.

Doha based carrier’s decision to commence the premier service on this sector will boost its prospects as the availability of cheap business class tickets will increase with it. Travelers who are keen on flying this class will surely turn to this carrier for their ticket bookings. It plans to deploy Airbus A319 on this route. This plane is equipped with a seating capacity for 40 passengers. With the launch of this flight, the carrier will join the league of airlines around the world offering such a premier service. In fact, it will become the first Middle Eastern carrier to do so.

At present, the carrier offers five flights a day between its hub and London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The new service will increase the number of daily flights to six. Henceforth, it will operate 42 weekly flights up from the current number of 35.

On the other hand, the carrier is keen on expanding its footprints across the globe and United States in particular. Other Gulf carriers operating flights to various destinations in the world pose a threat to its existence and it faces stiff competition from other regional carriers. Hence, it intends to launch service to eight new destinations and stay ahead of its rivals. Of these new eight destinations, three are in the U.S., and these include Dallas, Philadelphia, and Miami.
