Relive Historic Boston at Plimoth Plantation

Imagine being able to take flights back in time to experience the lives and times of the first European settlers in the United States. At historic Plimoth Plantation in Boston, a live interactive museum affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution, you can jump right into the lives of pilgrims and Indians, families and settlers in the scenic village of Plimoth. Boston is a cheap tickets destination that is famous for its history and there are so many ways to experience it, including walking tours, bike tours and museum exhibits. A visit to Plimoth Plantation is perhaps the most fun and unique way to learn about the city’s vibrant past. As many of Plimoth Plantation’s exhibits are outdoors, the museum is open from March until November and this year will close on November 28. If you’re checking out cheap tickets for flights to Boston in the fall or planning ahead for a cheap flights trip in the spring, make sure you make time for an unforgettable day at Plimoth Plantation.

Plimoth Plantation is set in the year 1627; seven years after the Mayflower first reached the shores of the New World. By 1627, there was a burgeoning English settlement at Plimouth that is recreated by this interactive, self-guided museum. At your own pace, you can walk between typical 17th-century homes and shops, talk to “settlers” and explore a range of exhibits about pilgrim life. All of the actors in the village are informative and trained to play documented settlers. To see the other side of the pilgrim story, visit the Wampanoag Homesite, designed to resemble a 17th-century Native American village. You’ll see Wampanoag Indians in deerskin clothes cooking food over fires and building traditional bark houses. You can learn about traditional Wampanoag medicine or play an ancient tribal game called hubbub.

Plimoth Plantation’s other main attraction for visitors arriving with cheap tickets to Boston is the Mayflower II. Although the original ship that sailed to Plimoth no longer exists, this full-scale reproduction is said to be almost identical to the real Mayflower. You can board the Mayflower II and see how pilgrims lived during the voyage to America that brought 102 settlers to Plimoth Plantation. Some other parts of the museum complex that guests can visit are the Craft Center and the Nye Barn. At the Craft Center, watch artisans of today making the everyday objects of the original Plimoth Plantation. Some of these 17th-century-style keepsakes can be purchased at the Museum Shops. Find beautifully crafted decorations and souvenirs to take on your flights home. In Nye Barn, visitors can see breeds of animals that were common in Plimoth hundreds of years ago but today have become rare and endangered species.  There are so many authentic and fascinating attractions at Plimoth Plantation that make it a fun-filled destination for all ages. Find airline tickets for cheap flights to Boston and enjoy the city’s pilgrim heritage from an insider’s perspective.
