SAS upgrading cabins on A330 and A340 aircrafts

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) recently indicated that it is going to roll out its first Airbus aircraft with new-look interiors. Media reports said that the airline is into the process of launching its Airbus A330 aircraft named ‘Erik Viking’ is currently into the final phase of refurbishment and it will be deployed for operations in mid-February this year.

The reports said that the airline is upgrading cabins on all its seven long-haul Airbus A330 and A340 aircrafts in its fleet. The new design will be featuring Wi-Fi access and on-demand state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system with high-definition screens in all its classes.

Eivind Roald, Executive Vice President Commercial at SAS, said, “The airline will soon be unveiling new cabins for all its customers. This will indeed be a big boost to the airline as well as provide a new flying experience.”

Roald said that the customers booking business class tickets on Scandinavian Airlines will enjoy their travel in the upgraded cabin, which will be featuring massage seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, direct aisle access, USB port and power outlet, fully-flat beds, and 15-inch IFE screens for in-flight entertainment. Earlier, the airline’s business class customers on long-haul flights are being offered a “restaurant experience in the air” since January 2015.

The airline has also upgraded its economy class and premium economy cabins. The premium economy cabin or SAS Plus will be featuring a 2-3-2 configuration offering a 37-38 inch seat pitch, a 12-inch IFE screen, an USB port and a power outlet. Similarly, the economy class cabin or SAS Go will be in a 2-4-2 configuration offering 31-32 inch seat pitch, a 9-inch IFE screen, individual USB ports and one power outlet per pair of seats.
