Scandinavian Airlines revamping its long-haul Airbus fleet

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has indicated that it is going to complete the revamp of its existing long-haul Airbus fleet. The airline said that by the end of this year the upgrade of its four Airbus A330 and four Airbus A340 aircrafts will be finalized.

The upgrades have been carried across all the classes and prominently feature state-of-the-art on-demand in-flight entertainment system with high-definition screens, new cabins and Wi-Fi access.

Mood lighting has also been introduced as well. The colors of the lights have been specially designed to help passengers unwind, relax and fall asleep on board their flights. The mood lighting will also help passengers perfectly adjust to time zones and prevent jet lag. The airline said that with the new upgrades it wants to offer better services and enhance onboard travel experiences.

Scandinavian Airlines in a statement said that the customers booking business class flights will be offered luxurious fully-flat bed seats with direct aisle access. The business class seats have also been equipped with USB port, individual power outlet and noise-cancelling earphones.

The airline will be showcasing its latest cabin upgrade. It will put its new cabin seats on display at the Hasselblad Gallery in Harajuku, Tokyo, from April 7 to April 23. The cabins on display will be featuring mattresses, pillows and duvets from renowned Swedish bed manufacturer Hastens. The special exhibition will be opened for the people on weekdays. The visitors to the exhibition will also be provided opportunity to test the seats, which will be featuring massage functions and can be converted into fully flat beds.

Scandinavian Airlines has also collaborated with Google for offering the passengers an interactive tour of the upgraded long-haul aircrafts with the help of Google Street View.
