Silver Airways to begin flights to Tampa, Orlando from Charleston

Here’s good news for Charleston area residents. Now, traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa is all set to become easier than before. Low-cost carrier Silver Airways has announced it will be launching flights to Tampa, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale from Charleston in March this year.

Fort Lauderdale-based small regional carrier Silver Airways, which is presently allied with JetBlue Airways and United Airlines, while revealing its plans said that it will start operating daily nonstop flights to Tampa and Orlando from Charleston effective from March 19, 2015. This will be the airline’s only nonstop service to be operated daily from Charleston.
 
The airline will be conducting thrice daily flights services out of Charleston. One daily flight will depart for Tampa and from there onwards to Fort Lauderdale. The airline will be offering twice daily nonstop flights to Orlando and conclude the service at Fort Lauderdale. The flights to these cities will be operated with the help of a 34-seat Saab 340Bplus turboprop aircraft. To mark the launch of new services to these destinations, the airline is offering promotional one-way cheap airfares starting at $89* for flights to be operated between March 19 and May 22.

Silver Airways was founded in 2011. It is currently operating about 130 flights per day to a total of 25 destinations spread across the Bahamas, Florida, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Paul Campbell, Director of Charleston County Aviation Authority, said, “The demand to add more services to Florida destinations from Charleston had been growing. With the launch of new services by Silver Airways, the travelers from Charleston will now be able to conveniently reach Tampa and Orlando and further continue on to Fort Lauderdale, from where they can connect to many other destinations as well. This will not only be beneficial for the Charleston residents but also boost the economy of this area.”
