Singapore Airlines mark nation’s Golden Jubilee with cheap fares

The year 2015 is momentous for Singapore. The Southeast Asian city-state is going to celebrate its 50th anniversary of founding and will mark it with special events throughout the year. It may be noted that Singapore, a former British colonial trading post which finally transformed itself into one of the wealthiest business hubs in the world, officially celebrates its Independence Day

Singapore’s flagship carrier Singapore Airlines has also decided to mark the nation’s founding with discounted airfares. Media reports recently said that the airline is now offering cheap tickets for travel in economy class to commemorate the occasion.

Singapore Airlines is offering tickets at fabulous discounts for direct flights to Singapore from various destinations in the United States. These U.S. airports include Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Travellers from the U.S. arriving at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) will also be able to conveniently connect to a number of destinations in the airline’s network, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Phuket, Bangkok, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Bali.

According to the airline, the flights from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Singapore Changi Airport will involve a short layover in Moscow, with a total travel time of around 23 hours.

The privileged flyers will also be able to enjoy a stopover holiday in Singapore and free tours of the city for all those with layovers of five hours and more.

The airline even offers a stopover holiday in Singapore and free city tours from the airport for those with layovers of at least five hours. The roundtrip tickets are required to be booked latest by September 27, 2015, for travel between September 1, 2015 and May 31, 2016.
