Singapore Airlines now connects to South America

Singapore Airlines recently announced its connectivity to the most commercial city to South America, Sao Paulo. The flights will land in Sao Paulo through the Barcelona route from 28th March 2011. Singapore Airlines will codeshare with Spanair Airlines to connect to the city.

The connectivity to Sao Paulo makes it a first destination of Singapore Airlines in South America. The aircraft Boeing B777-300ER, featuring the upgraded inflight facilities and seats, will be flying thrice a week on this route.

The flights will depart from Singapore on Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 00.40 a.m. and reach Barcelona at 08.20 a.m. The connecting flights after taking a halt for an hour will depart from Barcelona at 09.30 a.m. and will arrive in Sao Paulo at 05.55 p.m.

The flights from Sao Paulo will depart on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 01.45 a.m. and will arrive in Barcelona at 05.35 p.m. and then the connecting flight will takeoff from Barcelona at 06.45 p.m. and land at the Singapore Airport at 01.35 p.m. on the following day.

The new route is the result of the Open Skies Agreement signed between Singapore and Brazil last year. Both the airlines belong to Star Alliance, which also allows KrisFlyer and Spanair Plus members to earn and redeem miles on the new route.
