Singapore Airlines reconsidering all business class flights to New York Los Angeles

Singapore’s flag carrier Singapore Airlines in now into a fix whether to continue with its all-business class flights to New York and Los Angeles or not.

Media reports said that Singapore Airlines is seriously considering reconfiguring its aircrafts operating business class flights to these two US destinations.

Singapore Airlines has indicated that it is planning to bring back economy class seats to these existing all-business class flights in an attempt to offset losses and significantly boost its revenues.

According to the airline, the New York and Los Angeles routes have been continuously making looses ever since they were introduced in May 2008.

The demand for business class seats have plunged after the 2008 financial crisis. However, Singapore Airlines has so far continued to keep these two routes on its roster because of their ‘ultra-premium’ status.

Even airline officials feel that there is little value for Singapore Airlines in maintaining an ultra-premium flight experience because of the high fuel costs.

Singapore Airlines is presently mulling how to reconfigure its five A345 aircrafts and add economy class seats, which it considers to be a costly affair.
