The “100 Best Hotels in the World” list for 2016 has been published by Travel + Leisure magazine has been released. Six hotels in California have found place in the coveted list. These include The Farmhouse Inn (Forestville), Chateau du Sureau (Oakhurst), Rosewood Sand Hill (San Francisco), Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa (San Diego County), The Brewery Gulch Inn (Mendocino), and Inn Above the Tide (Sausalito).
According to the list, five of the top 10 hotels worldwide are in the United States. The 10 best hotels in the world are the following: Nihiwatu (Sumba, Indonesia); The Spectator Hotel (Charleston, S.C.); Huka Lodge (Taupo, New Zealand),; Tie at No. 4 position between Southern Ocean Lodge (Kangaroo Island, Australia) and Montage Kapalua Bay (Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii); The Lodge at Glendorn (Bradford, Pa.); The Willcox (Aiken, S.C.); Casa Gangotena (Quito, Ecuador); Twin Farms (Barnard, Vt.); and The Singular Patagonia (Puerto Bories, Chile).
The feedback from the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine was utilized for making the selections of the hotels. The criteria on which the hotels were selected include room and facilities, food and drink, service, location, and overall value. Here’s a brief insight into how the six hotels in California made it to the prestigious “100 Best Hotels in the World” list for 2016.
The Farmhouse Inn in Forestville was placed at No. 12. The hotel is situated just south of Healdsburg, in California’s wine country. The Farmhouse Inn comprises of 25 suites and rooms. Chateau du Sureau made it to No. 21 in the list. This resort was founded in 1984. It is spread in an area of nine acres and looks resplendent in its European décor. It is situated nearby Yosemite National Park’s south entrance in Oakhurst. The Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park was placed at No. 37 in a tie. It is located in the Silicon Valley spanning in an area of 16 acres. The hotel has 121 suites and rooms, and presents awesome views of the on-site gardens and the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa made it to No. 50 in the list. It is located in Rancho Santa Fe, to the north of San Diego County. It is consistently finding a place in the top hotel lists. It has been awarded an AAA Five Diamond rating by Forbes magazine. It was also selected as U.S. World & News Report’s best hotel in 2015.
