Some weird airline policies that you need to know!

While passengers buy air tickets for their travel abroad either for leisure or business purposes, most of them are indeed ignorant of the fact that sometimes airlines also charge odd fees that they haven’t ever thought about. However, nowadays there are many international airlines that want to earn more by charging extra fees from the passengers. It is therefore always good to know about some of the odd fees charged by the airlines before you book your plane tickets.

Previously, the airlines used to give preference to their loyal, frequent flyers. However, most of the airlines have changed their policies now. One of the policies that most of the airlines adhered to was not to charge extra fee whenever the passenger wanted to make a seat assignment in advance. This has however changed now, and the airlines have started charging for a seat assignment whether you book in advance an exit row seat, aisle and the window seat, and the middle seat. Though, the charges vary depending on the seats of your choice.

After you manage to get cheap flight deals from your travel agent and travel by Qantas or Air New Zealand, you are likely to confront another weird airline policy. Both these airlines have restricted men from sitting next to unaccompanied kids for security reasons. And, this is quite surprising indeed for many passengers! You’ll also find that the airlines have even changed their baggage fee rules as well. Earlier, the passengers were required to pay only for the ‘extra’ baggage. However, some of the airlines are now charging their customers on each individual baggage they are carrying along with them. For the first baggage the fee will be less, and subsequently increases with the second baggage, third baggage, and so on.

For the obese people, the airlines have different rules. Some US airlines such as Delta Air Lines and American Airlines demand that when their flights are full and don’t have extra seats available then the obese passengers who can’t fit into a single seat will be required to buy another seat. These are some of the important facts that passengers need to know before they buy airline tickets. It is always good to know the policies of the airlines beforehand and save yourself from unnecessary troubles while you are planning to set out for your next journey.
