South African Airways marks first anniversary of New York-Johannesburg flights

The popular round-trip nonstop flights between New York and Johannesburg launched by South African Airways have completed its first year. The airline has announced celebrations by offering cheap air tickets and flight deals to mark the first anniversary. The flights between the two destinations were launched on May 1, 2011.

The airline said in a statement that the morning departure from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport provides the passengers convenient connection opportunities to various leisure and business destinations throughout the African continent.

The airline further stated that the return nonstop flights from Johannesburg also allow passengers throughout the region to spend an entire day on the African continent before taking their flights to the US.

South African Airways’ New York-Johannesburg round-trip nonstop service has also become quite popular with the travelers as it has significantly reduced the overall travel time in each direction by over 90 minutes. The service has become even more convenient for the passengers to travel to and from South Africa.

Todd Neuman, Executive Vice President, North America for South African Airways, said that the airline has witnessed a 25 percent growth y-o-y in passengers, with a strong demand coming regularly from both business and leisure travelers.
