South African Airways resuming JFK-Johannesburg route March 7

South Africa’s national carrier South African Airways recently announced it will once again be resuming its nonstop flights services between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Johannesburg’s O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB). The daily flights between the two cities will start operating from March 7, 2015.

The resumption of the service has come as a boon for the travelers from the two cities as the overall flight duration on the route will be significantly reduced by nearly 90 minutes.

The airline in a statement said that the nonstop flights in either of the directions have been conveniently timed to help the U.S. travelers to connect in Johannesburg with South African Airways extensive route network of over 55 destinations in South Africa. Similarly, the travelers from South Africa to New York will be able to connect to over 35 cities in the United States and Canada through the airline’s codeshare partners including United Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Air Canada.

The nonstop Flight SA#204 will depart from New York JFK at 11.15 am and arrive in Johannesburg at 8.20 am next day. The return flight SA#203 will leave from Johannesburg at 8.30 pm and reach New York JFK at 6.40 am next day.

South African Airways will deploy its latest Airbus A340-600 aircraft to operate flights between Johannesburg and New York JFK. The airline said that the customers booking business class tickets will be offered 42 full-flat beds in its Premium Business Class cabin. The premium customers will also be offered complimentary bar service featuring best South African wines, freshly prepared meals and state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system.
