Spirit Airlines recently announced it will be launching flights services to several domestic destinations from the United States from Pittsburgh International Airport. The flights would be launched from May onwards this year. Pittsburgh International Airport will now become the airline’s 61st city from where it will be expanding its network. Spirit Airlines will be launching nonstop flights to seven destinations in the country, which includes Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach and Dallas/Fort Worth.

Spirit Airlines will start conducting daily flights from Pittsburgh to Myrtle Beach and Dallas/Fort Worth starting from May 25, 2017. The airline will also be launching thrice weekly flights between Fort Lauderdale and Pittsburgh effective from June 15 this year. The airline will also be serving Orlando and Las Vegas with once daily service to each destination starting from June 22. Moreover flights from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles and Houston will become operational from July 13 this year. According to the new schedule, flights to Myrtle Beach will be seasonal, while Fort Lauderdale will be served with thrice weekly service. The remaining five destinations will be served with once daily flights.

Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, said, “Our popular ultra low-cost carrier continues to grow and expand its network to other places in the United States. The airline has identified Pittsburgh to be an excellent place for its future growth and network expansion. The new flights services out of Pittsburgh International Airport would be complementing the airline’s existing service from Latrobe, and would act as a catalyst in providing more low fare options fron western Pennsylvania.”

Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County Executive, said, “Pittsburgh International Airport welcomes yet another low-cost carrier. Spirit Airlines will now become the 16th airline to serve Pittsburgh. It will also become the eighth new carrier to offer its flights services out of the airport in just over two years. With Spirit Airlines’ entry, the number of nonstop destinations to be served out of Pittsburgh airport will now be 68 from the existing 37.”
