Spirit joins JetBlue and Delta in non-stop flights to Detroit

Detroit is fast becoming a favorite market for low-cost carriers. The Detroit Metropolitan Airport is already being served by JetBlue Airways and Delta Air Lines, which recently launched their services from here.

Another low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has announced it will be soon joining Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways to launch new nonstop flights to Boston from Detroit. The airline, which is presently operating out of Detroit Metro Airport’s North Terminal, said that it will begin new service to Boston effective from April 16 and will continue operations until fall.

A spokesperson of Spirit Airlines said that the nonstop flight to be operated daily will depart from Detroit at 7 am and arrive at Boston at 8.59 am. The return flight will make its departure from Boston at 9.15 pm and reach Detroit at 11.26 pm.

Meanwhile, JetBlue Airways also announced it will launch new service to Fort Lauderdale from Detroit in the same month of April itself. The flights on new Detroit-Fort Lauderdale route will begin operations from April 30 this year.

JetBlue Airways in a statement said that it is expanding its services to Detroit ever since it launched its operations here in March last year. The airline is serving Detroit with thrice daily nonstop flights from Boston.

According to the airline, the new flights to Fort Lauderdale will make its departure from Detroit Metro Airport at 7.05 pm. The flight will reach Fort Lauderdale three hours later the same day at 10.10 pm. The return flight will depart from Fort Lauderdale at 3.20 pm and reach at Detroit at 7.20 pm.
