Spirit, Frontier face off over Cleveland discounted flights

It’s déjà vu for Cleveland travelers now. Make merry as never before as more cheap flights are on your way. The competition between low-cost rivals Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines has intensified over Cleveland, with travelers becoming the ultimate winners.

A travel industry expert recently expressed surprise over Spirit Airlines’ bold move to launch flights out of Cleveland, which was Frontier Airlines’ preserve until now. The travel expert cited the unwritten rule in the commercial aviation business. He pointed out that according to this unwritten code rival airlines are expected to stay clear from each other’s turf. But in the recent acrimonious rivalry between the two airlines this rule seems to have been shattered.

The expert said that with Spirit Airlines deciding to begin flights from Cleveland the competition with the main rival Frontier Airlines is going to become fiercer. Media reports further quoting the expert said that Clevelanders stand to benefit hugely, and this is obviously good news for them. The report stated that the Clevelanders had earlier to pay exorbitant prices for domestic air travel considered to be among the highest in the United States. But with Spirit Airlines into a stiff competition with Frontier Airlines, this wouldn’t be the case now. He said that air travelers from here should be on the lookout for attractive fares that are currently available to them.

The famous ultra low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines in October this year announced that it is gaining entry into Cleveland market and would be launching flights to eight destinations from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport from January 2015.
