Spirit to launch service to ten new cities from MSP

Spirit Airlines has announced its decision to offer no-frills service to ten new destinations beginning November 7, 2013. The budget carrier said it is keen on increasing its presence at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) by adding seasonal service to Los Angeles, Phoenix, Orlando and Tampa. Airline tickets to these destinations are already up for sale. These one-way fares can be purchased for as low as $59*.

The low cost carrier that launched operations to the Twin Cities is known for keeping its base fares low. It however, is known to charge its customers for overhead luggage, water bottle for $3, and $10 for printing a boarding pass. It is this unorthodox business model that has helped the airline offer alternatives to some travelers which otherwise seems like a distant dream.

The airline believes not every customer is looking for luxuries offered in first or business class. For the carrier there is a section of passengers strictly looking for an affordable mode of travel, which further helps then cut short their travel time.

The carrier specially added these cities to its itinerary as they are frequented by travelers from these Twin Cities. In terms of passenger traffic through MSP, Phoenix ranks third, Orlando fourth, Los Angeles stands on number seven position and Tampa scores nineteenth rank.

At present, Spirit operates flights from MSP to Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Las Vegas. It will continue its nonstop seasonal offering to Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers starting November 7, 2013.
