SriLankan Airlines economy passengers to check-in early

SriLankan Airlines flights departing from Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport will take off according to a new rule by Sri Lankan aviation authorities. The airline now requires its economy class passengers to check-in an hour before scheduled time of departure.

The move of the airline is aimed at easing congestion at the airport as well as ensuring a swift and smooth check-in for the passengers.

SriLankan Airlines in a statement said that all economy class check-in counters will close 60 minutes before scheduled time of departure. The new rule took effect from February 1, 2012.

The airline said that it opens check-in counters three hours before flight departures and boarding gates 90 minutes before departure, which would enable all passengers who check-in online to also enter the boarding lounge on time for their flight.
