St. Louis airport officials seek British Airways flight to London

Travelers have raised fresh hopes of new nonstop flights between Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and London Heathrow Airport.
The officials at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport recently said that they now want British Airways to launch transatlantic flights to London.
 
Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, Director of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, said that discussions were currently underway regarding the launch of nonstop flights to London. Before the scales could tilt in favor of St. Louis, British Airways however chose to launch flights between Texas’ Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and London, which became operational from March this year. The flights between the two destinations are since being operated utilizing a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Hamm-Niebruegge said that there are still hopes that nonstop flights could become possible from St. Louis as British Airways has already indicated that it will be seeking entry into markets lacking major hub airports when it further expands its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.

Media reports also said that there was a great possibility that British Airways might plan to begin flight operations from another U.S. city in 2015. According to Hamm-Niebruegge, there was a need to hasten the pace of negotiations and make British Airways finally agree to launch nonstop flights from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

At the same time, British Airways has also made it clear that nonstop flight to London from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport can become possible only on the condition that its more-lucrative business class seats are sold.

St. Louis airport currently has nearly 300 daily customers who want to travel to European destinations. The number is likely to grow further when British Airways finally decides to launch flights to London from here.
