New York State and New York City will see spurt in new hotels over the next three years. Starwood Hotels and Resorts will undertake a significant expansion of its “Specialty Select” brands across the state. The leading hotel chain will be opening 10 new properties across its Four Points, Element and Aloft brands by 2018 end. Most of the new hotels would be located in New York City.
The group recently opened its new Four Points New York Downtown hotel. The 261-room property is situated in New York City’s financial district at 6 Plat Street. The hotel will be prominently featuring a full-service dining at The Ketch Brewhouse, 2,000 square feet of meeting space and a rooftop lounge.
The year 2016 is also going to see the openings of three new hotels, which include Aloft Long Island City, Four Points Manhattan Hudson Yards and Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor. The group will also be opening two hotels in 2017 as well. These hotels will be Aloft New York Midtown and Aloft New York LaGuardia Airport. Three new hotels are also scheduled to be open in 2018. These include Element Spring Valley, Element Syracuse Inner Harbour and Four Points Flushing.
The group’s Aloft brand has already reached its 100 properties in its portfolio in 2015, while another popular brand Four Points is now boasting of 200 hotels worldwide during the same year. The sustainable Elements brand is also on course and is bracing to more than double its international portfolio in the next three years.
Media reports said that Starwood Hotels and Resorts achieved a huge success by opening a record number of hotels in 2015. The group also boasted of having the highest number of signed properties it has in its portfolio in a single year. The group indicated that it succeeded in opening a total of 105 hotels across its brands in 2015, even as it prepares to merge with the leading global hotel chain Marriott International.
Brian McGuinness, Global Brand Leader, Specialty Select Brands for Starwood, in a recent statement has described the Four Points, Element and Aloft brands as “Starwood’s global pipeline driver”.
