‘Super Business Class’ to be unveiled by Qatar Airways in March

Qatar Airways is all set to do something ‘super’. Middle East’s leading carrier Qatar Airways will be introducing its innovative ‘super business class’ suites in the month of March this year. Media reports quoting a spokesperson of the airline said that a double bed would be in the midsts of middle seats in the airline's business class cabin.

According to the reports, the custom-designed premium business class seats would be installed on the airline’s impressive Airbus A350 and Boeing 777-300ER fleets. The new seats are expected to be launched later in December this year. The reports further stated that the new business class seats would be featuring sliding doors so that it can be converted into a suite-like cabin. The new seats would be designed similar to that of Singapore Airlines according to the British firm DCA Design International.

Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said, “The new super business class seats would be unveiled during the annual ITB Berlin travel tradeshow to be held starting from March 8, 2017. The new business class suites would in fact be first class offering at a business class fare.”

Al Baker stated that private suites give you a feeling of becoming somewhat uncomfortable or claustrophobic. However, we will ensure that the design of our new business class product is such that it provides maximum comfort to the travelers. Our main objective insofar as new business class seats are concerned is to go for semi-privacy. “After all, what is the concept of a cabin? The passengers slide the two doors to convert it into a cabin. It is already semi-closed, and for additional privacy when sleeping it becomes fully closed.” Qatar Airways has decided to patent the basic design and it will be exclusive to the airline as such. The business class suites can however be customized to suit the requirements of individual customers whenever need be, said the airline's CEO.
