Swiss to offer more in-flight service options in business class

Swiss International Air Lines or Swiss is expanding its in-flight entertainment (IFE) offerings for all its customers, irrespective of travel classes. Swiss, which is a subsidiary of Lufthansa, also said that it will be offering more in-flight service options to its premium customers travelling in business class.

A spokesperson of Swiss said that the business class customers now have added advantage of booking “Privacy Seat” on long-haul international flights effective from March end this year. This will though be available for a fee depending on the duration of the flight. According to the airline, its Miles & More frequent flyer program members holding HON Circle and Senator status will however be offered these exclusive Privacy seats on a complimentary basis, subject to availability.

Media reports further stated that the customers traveling in any of the three travel classes – First Class, Business Class and Economy Class – of the airline will gain access to a wide range of IFE offerings, which includes eJournals. As part of the impressive IFE offering, the customers will be able to download more than 250 digital magazines and newspapers offered in 10 different languages. According to the airline, the number of titles provided to the customers would vary and depend on the class they are traveling, and also whether they are holders of Miles & More frequent flyer program status. These would be available free of cost per flight basis.

Providing more details of the IFE offerings, the airline in a statement said that the customers would be able to download the titles up to three days after arrival and within seven days of departure. The customers are however required to use their ticket number or booking code for downloading the latest version of their preferred magazine or newspaper on their smartphones or other mobile devices.

Travel experts said that the introduction of new eJournal range by Swiss indicates that the airline is looking forward to further reduce some 450 tonnes of annual carbon dioxide emissions by gradually replacing its selection of print newspapers and magazines on board with digital publications, thus effectively lightening the overall weight of the flight as well.
