Swiss to take its business class fliers on a culinary journey

Swiss International Air Lines or Swiss has once again unveiled its popular “SWISS Taste of Switzerland” program. The airline promises to take its first and business class customers traveling on long-haul routes on a culinary journey for the coming 3 months.

The services of renowned chef Sven Wassmer has been hired by Swiss for creating new menu for its premium customers. The culinary journey will take the fliers to savor meals inspired from Canton Grisons in Southeast Switzerland. According to the airline, special delicacies focusing on Canton Grisons and created by chef Sven Wassmer would be offered to the customers traveling on long-haul international routes.

The new menu will comprise specially-designed meals combining fine regional cuisines along with delectable international cuisines. Sven Wassmer, the creator of the new menu, is the head chef at the 7132 Silver restaurant situated at the 7132 Hotel in Vals. He holds two Michelin stars and 17 GaultMillau points, and has also been named “2016 Discovery of the Year”.

According to the airline, the main course served to business class customers would comprise of chicken breast filled with Sprinz cheese and spinach, along with caramelized parsnips and baked polenta. The main course will then be followed with a vanilla and amaretto panna cotta with dried pier jelly and dulce de leche. This will finally conclude with selected Grisons cheeses and wines such as a 2015 Riesling-Sylvaner and a Davaz Fläsch Pinot Noir.

The select European flights to Switzerland would also see the celebration of Guest Canton Grisons in business class cabins between January 18 and 31, 2017. During this period a horse-drawn sleigh custom “Schlitteda Engiadinaisa” in St. Moritz will be celebrated by the airline by serving special meals on board the flights. This is the airline’s latest “SWISS Traditions” feature. The food specialities served on the occasion include capuns with Grisons mountain cheese or a beef ragout with pizokel. The dessert will include either a walnut mousse or a slice of Engadine nut cake.
