Taittinger champagne in Singapore Airlines business class now

Traveling on Singapore Airlines’ business class flights anytime soon, then you will be among those lucky ones to be served Prelude “Grands Crus” champagne from Taittinger.

The exquisite Prelude “Grands Crus” is being produced by the prominent Taittinger family-owned champagne house. The champagne is made with the first pressings of equal portion of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes procured from Grand Cru vineyards.

Oz Clarke, Singapore Airlines’ Wine Panel member, said that the airline is pleased to serve Taittinger Prelude “Grands Crus” to its business class customers. He said that the champagne is produced after procuring the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from the Grand Cru vineyards owned by the Taittinger family. It is aged for above five years in their cellars. He said that the exclusivity in the air and elegance in the glass makes it something special.

Clarke is among the newest member on Wine Panel of Singapore Airlines to have selected this champagne. Other members on the panel include Michael Hill-Smith and Jeannie Cho Lee. According to the airline, the two members, apart from Clarke, are wine experts. Michael Hill-Smith was the first Australian to have passed the quite challenging Master of Wine examinations, while Jeannie Cho Lee became the first Asian to be presented with the Master of Wine title.

A spokesperson of Singapore Airlines said that about 194,000 bottles of champagne are consumed by premium customers on the airline’s flights every year. The airline is presently the only one to serve the highly coveted and rare Grand Cru Red Burgundy as well as two prestige cuvees – Krug Grand Cuvée and Dom Perignon – on its business class.
