The Flying Kangaroo launches new business class seats for A330s

Although Qantas announced the new business class seat designs for Airbus A330 a year ago, the airlines finally showcased the finished product to the media on Tuesday. The Vantage XL business class seats are manufactured by Belfast-based Thompson Aero Seating with crafted customization by Marc Newson. Qantas has pioneered the seat design which allows reclining even during takeoff as well as landing.
 
These heavily customized seats feature light wooden veneer, dark graphite details and burgundy fabrics for sleeping. Easily accessible seat controls, in-seats power outlets, perfect mood lighting, an extensive metal pocket to store laptops, books and tablets etc, with exquisite details and a handle atop the seat to navigate oneself to the aisle. The seats are also equipped with a "do not disturb" function. The seats are positioned in a 1-2-1 configuration allowing each passenger direct aisle access. There are a total of 28 seats with 7 in each row. The seats recline partially by 21 to 25 degrees and a mattress is installed on take-off and landing to allow the travelers to get up to 45 minutes more of sleep time.

The in-flight entertainment is outfitted with Qantas’ Q-Streaming technology on all A330s, which allows the passenger to access a huge entertainment library streamed to tablet-style devices. The international flights (all cabins) and domestic Business Suites have the entertainment screens installed in the back of the seats. The passengers can browse through a catalog content of over 1500 hours which was previously 300 hours. Popular TV shows and latest movies are stored in a memory card mounted behind the screen for non-stop entertainment. The travelers can also beam music and videos to their smart phones or tablets through Wi-Fi based Q-Streaming.

After debuting on transcontinental routes in Late December, the new generation business class seats will be installed on international routes for Sydney-Honolulu, Sydney-Hong Kong, Sydney-Manila and various other routes.
