Trenton airport to be made Frontier Airlines’ East Coast base

U.S. low cost carrier Frontier Airlines, which usually offers cheap air tickets to its customers, recently announced it will be making the Trenton-Mercer Airport its commercial base on the East Coast.

Daniel Shurz, a Senior Vice President of Frontier Airlines, said that Trenton-Mercer Airport is being made the airline’s commercial base on the East Coast because it’s a densely populated area with nearly two-and-a-half million people living closer in drive time to Trenton that any other airport with commercial airline service.

The Denver-based carrier has since November last year announced 10 nonstop destinations from the small Mercer Country airport, starting with two flights to Orlando every week.

Frontier Airlines has indicated that it would be launching flights to three more cities in Florida – Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa. Apart from this, the airline would also launch flights to New Orleans.

The airline stated that the flights to Fort Myers and Tampa would be launched from January 31, while the flights to New Orleans and Fort Lauderdale would be launched from February 1 and February 2, 2013 respectively.
