Turkish Airlines has recently upgraded its IFE system. It has been completely redesigned offering improvised user interface to its customers. The information services and entertainment content offered through this state-of-the-art entertainment system makes travel quite enjoyable.
A spokesperson of Turkish Airlines said that user experience and professional usability laboratories conducted a well-researched study in order that user-friendliness is maximized. The redesign is therefore based keeping these factors in view and overall customer experience. “Scientific studies were done and the design is accordingly based on them as also incorporating the latest technologies into it. The final outcome of this redesign is that the customers are now being offered diverse digital entertainment options in a highly easy-to-access form,” said the spokesperson.
Many new, exciting features form the part of the newly created IFE services. Some of these prominent features include films from the popular database IMDb (Internet Movie Database), and category filtering for movies or ratings of TV shows. The customers are also offered innovative search function for conveniently accessing content and making a quick search of games, music, TV shows and movies. The feature among others also include Turkish Airlines’ exclusive list of “Accessible Movies”, which have been either dubbed or subtitled to assist visually or hearing impaired customers with special descriptions. The selection has in its kitty nearly 11 titles.
An improved 3D map also forms the part of the redesigned in-flight entertainment system. It provides more informative and interactive data, in addition to information about the status of current flight, which includes geographical and altitude features, virtual imagery with realistic 3D animations and descriptions of distance, right and left window views, and cockpit. A “Do Not Disturb” function is also there enabling the passengers to give instructions to the cabin crew regarding whether to awaken them for serving food or shouldn't be disturbed at all during the entire duration of the flight.
Apart from this, the customers traveling in business class cabins are provided extra handset with its own second screen. The purpose for offering the handset is that they can conveniently keep themselves updated about the flight status on the handset’s display while simultaneously watching a movie on their own individual screen.
