Turkish Airlines increases frequencies to Istanbul from US cities

Turkey’s flag carrier Turkish Airlines recently announced it has increased nonstop transatlantic flights to Istanbul from its three U.S. gateways – New York, Los Angeles and Washington DC. The airline has taken this move responding to growing demand.

The additional frequencies are aimed at improving accessibility, and offering more frequent and convenient departures for both leisure and business travelers.

Effective March 25, the passengers are now able to book air tickets for nonstop flights between New York’s JFK International Airport and Istanbul Ataturk Airport, which has been increased to 14 flights from 11 per week. Turkish Airlines will be operating 21 flights per week utilizing Boeing 777 and Airbus 330 aircrafts on New York JFK-Istanbul route during the busy summer travel season between May 28 and September 16, 2012.

The airline also stated that its nonstop flights to Istanbul from Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport will become daily service starting from March 31, 2012.   

Earlier this month, Turkish Airlines launched service to Mogadishu (Somalia), operating twice weekly flights via Khartoum, from Istanbul.
