Turkish Airlines recently announced it will be offering state-of-the-art headsets to its economy class customers on long-haul flights. The move of the airline has come after electronic devices larger than cell phones / smartphones were banned as carry-ons by the U.S. government on flights originating from some countries, including Turkey.
Turkey’s national carrier Turkish Airlines has already started offering “special headsets” in economy class cabins on flights to various U.S. destinations. The airline will also be offering this service on other long-haul routes starting from May onwards.
A spokesman of Turkish Airlines said that the economy class customers would be able to enjoy and keep themselves uninterruptedly entertained through this special award-winning state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system called “Planet”.
Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines has also started offering complimentary Wi-Fi services on all its flights to the United States. It will be offered to all those customers who won’t be using electronic devices such as tablets and laptops, which have been banned by U.S. federal government on long-haul flights from certain Muslim countries.
A number of effective measures have been taken by Turkish Airlines after the ban on electronic devices as carry-ons in cabins was promulgated by both the U.S. and UK governments, on several flights from Middle East nations as well as Turkey. The airline had acted swiftly to avoid potential losses.
The customers who are traveling with their electronic devices such as tablets and laptops are asked to submit them at boarding gates, which are then safely stored in special containers and handed over by the airline’s specialized staff to the customers in the baggage claim area after the landing of the flights.
Turkish Airlines presently owns an extensive fleet of over 330 aircrafts and offers flights services to nearly 300 destinations across the world. It may be known that Turkish Airlines has won several awards. The latest award won by the airline has been “Europe’s Best Airline” award presently during 2016 Skytrax World Airlines Awards ceremony. The airline has won this award for the sixth consecutive year.
