United Airlines introduces nonstop Houston-Chicago flights

United Airlines recently launched new nonstop flights to Houston and Chicago from Atlantic City International Airport. The flight, which was launched on April 1, would be operated on a daily basis.

Don Wright, Vice President of United Airline’s Newark hub, said that the new flights to the airline’s two largest hubs – Houston and Chicago – would offer convenient travel options to travelers booking airline tickets from South Jersey. The new flights are aimed at offering passengers opportunity to seamlessly connect to Atlantic City from destinations across Latin America, North America and Asia.

Apart from United Airlines, another low cost carrier Spirit Airlines is already offering flights services out of Atlantic City International Airport. Spirit Airlines launched its flights in November last year, just four months after the airport was taken over by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and is now being operated under the South Jersey Transportation Authority.

Expressing his happiness over the launch of new flights, Deb Gramiccioni, Port Authority Deputy Executive Director, said that the airport has now fulfilled its promise to expand service out of here and offering increased travel options for leisure and business travelers. He said that their happiness has been doubled with United Airlines agreeing to serve the Atlantic City airport.

A South Jersey lawmaker while expressing his pleasure said that this development is a major boost for the Atlantic City International Airport.  He said that in the past 14 years the airport has lost the services of major carriers like Continental Airlines, US Airways, Delta Air Lines, WestJet Airlines and AirTran Airways.

The lawmaker hoped that the airport will strive further to build on the momentum and make best efforts to welcome other airlines for expanding their services from here. This would also help customers in the southern region get more travel options as well.
