United Airlines recently launched its nonstop flights to San Francisco from Singapore. This is also for the first time that nonstop flights between the two destinations had been introduced by a U.S. carrier. According to reports, this is also the only nonstop service between the United States and Singapore.
United Airlines in a statement said that the outbound flight departs from Singapore Changi Airport at 8.45 am and reaches San Francisco International Airport at 9.15 am (PDT) same day. The flight duration from Singapore to San Francisco is approximately 15 hours 30 minutes, while the return flight from San Francisco to Singapore involves duration of 16 hours 20 minutes.
A spokesperson of United Airlines said that customers would be able to save travel time of up to four hours each way when traveling between Singapore and San Francisco, as compared to other flights services with connections.
The flights on the new route will be conducted with the help of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, configured with a total seating capacity of 252 passengers – 48 seats in United BusinessFirst, 88 seats in Economy Plus and 204 seats in United Economy.
The launch of new flights between Singapore and San Francisco was announced by United Airlines earlier in January this year. The airline had then revealed its plans of introducing daily nonstop flights between the two destinations starting from June 3, 2016, pending government approval.
Earlier, Singapore Airlines operated flights between New York and Singapore, which was the longest nonstop service in the world. The airline however stopped its flight operations on the route in 2013 citing financial losses. The airline had also same year stopped operating direct flights to Los Angeles from Singapore as well because of huge financial losses. The airline had also last year announced that it is planning to revive its direct flights services to the United States in 2018.
