United Airlines moving to single passenger reservation system

United Airlines recently announced that it is adopting a single passenger reservation system, and henceforth air tickets will be available only through this system.

The move of United Airlines has put a final seal on its 2010 merger with Continental Airlines. This also signals that Continental Airlines now no longer exists and has folded up its operations for good. The Continental.com website will also disappear in favor of the United Airlines branded website.

After this merger, only United Airlines, owned by United Continental Holdings Inc., will operate flight services. The merger of the two airlines has now created the world’s largest airline.

United Airlines in a statement said that by moving to a unified booking platform the passengers will be experiencing the most significant change ever.

According to United Airlines, millions of passenger records have already been moved to the Continental platform and its frequent flyers have also been notified about the upcoming change.
