United Airlines now first U.S. carrier to begin Dreamliner flight

United Airlines recently announced it has become the first carrier in the United States to offer Dreamliner flights services in the country.
 
United Continental Holdings Inc., the parent company of United Airlines, said that with the launch of the inaugural Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight the aviation industry in the country has ushered in a new era for composite-plastic aircraft. The inaugural flight took off from Houston to Chicago.

Jeff Smisek, Chief Executive Officer of United Continental Holdings Inc., said that Boeing 787 Dreamliner jet is the best airplane so far built in the world. He said that the Dreamliner jet’s fuselage is chiefly made from composite materials instead of the traditional aluminum.

Smisek said that the Dreamliner jet’s 20 percent fuel savings would prove to be beneficial for United Airlines as compared with wide-body models of similar size.

He disclosed that customers booking air tickets and traveling in United Airlines’ Dreamliner would find great comfort during their journey. The aircraft has dimmable windows as well as LED lighting that changes during the different phases of flight.
