United Airlines wins Eco-Aviation Airline of the Year award

United Airlines, the big player in the United States aviation sector won yet another feather in its cap. The airline that has been serving the domestic and international market for years was named the Eco- Aviation Airline of the Year Gold Winner by Air Transport World (ATW) magazine. The ceremony was held in Chicago.

The annual affair is held to recognize and honor the contribution of airlines in the global commercial market. United sweeped the award for developing environment friendly policies and making them a priority. It was also acknowledged for working towards climate change and bio fuels working groups and initiatives and for broadly improving airline’s efficiency along with the environment that operates in.

Jeff Smisek, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of United Airlines expressed his pleasure about the award and said that it is indeed a huge honor for the airline to win an award of this stature. He added that he is proud to be working with a team which cares for the environment. He further added that he is happy that their united initiatives are working in the right direction. He also said that together they are able to reduce the airline’s environmental footprints and work for a sustainable future of their company as well as the industry.
