United launches upgraded in-flight meals for premium customers

United Airlines recently introduced upgraded in-flight food and beverage service for its premium customers traveling on domestic routes within North America. The airline said that the premium beverages and chef-inspired meals are aimed at elevating the in-flight experience of the passengers.

The airline provided details about the new changes, which became effective from September 1, 2014. According to United Airlines, the customers traveling on United First and United Business within North America would be offered premium salads, premium sandwiches and wraps. The passengers in premium cabins will also be served Prosecco sparkling wine starting this fall. Those taking flights of shorter duration will also be offered premium in-flight meals starting from 2015. Media reports further indicated that United Airlines’ subsidiary United Express will also introduce fresh meal options for its premium customers starting from next year.

United Airlines has from early September this year started offering its customers traveling in United First and United Business on North American routes a wide choice of four new salad entrée. These include a Strawberry Fields salad, a seasonal greens with roast beef and blue cheese salad, an Asian-style noodle salad, and a Southwestern salad. The new menu will replace the earlier shrimp and chicken salad options.

According to the airline, the customers in premium cabins flying within North America will also be offered new chilled sandwiches and wraps. The chilled options include caprese on Asiago baguette, Cobb salad wrap, a Thai-style chicken wrap, and Italian prosciutto on tomato focaccia. The warmed options include roast beef and cheddar on Asiago baguette, chicken and mozzarella on tomato focaccia, ham and Swiss on pretzel baguette, and turkey and Swiss on cranberry baguette.
