United to launch Polaris business class seat to Asia, Europe

United Airlines has announced it will be launching its new Polaris business class seats to several destinations in Europe and Asia. The newly-designed seats have been installed on Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts. The new routes among others include Frankfurt, Tokyo and Beijing. The airline will later include Hong Kong and Tel Aviv as well, which are already being served by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with new Polaris seats.

Media reports said United Airlines is set to launch new Polaris seats on flights between Taipei and San Francisco starting from August 1, 2017. The airline will also introduce Polaris seats on San Francisco-Beijing route being operated once daily effective from September 6 this year. There are also plans to launch Polaris seats on the airline’s one of the twice daily flights between San Francisco and Frankfurt effective October 5. This will also be the airline’s first route in Europe to be served with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

According to the reports, there are more destinations where United Airlines is planning to deploy Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The airline’s Tokyo Narita-Newark Liberty route is set to welcome the deployment of Polaris-equipped B777-300ER and flights being operated from October 28. The airline had earlier this year upgraded San Francisco-Tokyo Narita route replacing Boeing 747-400 aircraft with the new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

A spokesperson of United Airlines said that there are a total of 60 Polaris business class seats in Boeing 777-300ER aircraft configured in 1-2-1 layout. These fully lie-flat seats are 6 feet and 6 inches long, and promise a comfortable flying experience to the premium customers. Apart from business class, the aircraft also has two other travel classes – Economy Plus and Economy Class. The seat pitch in Economy Plus is 34 inches, while in Economy Class the seat pitch is of 31 inches.

United Airlines has indicated that it will be deploying all 14 Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts received in first batch before the end of 2017. The airline will also be purchasing four additional Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts and already placed order for these. These aircrafts will also be deployed on other long-haul international routes in future.
