United to launch San Francisco-Indianapolis route

United Airlines, one of the major commercial carriers of the U.S. announced that it will launch service between San Francisco and Indianapolis. The new nonstop flights are expected to start beginning January 7, 2014.

The new operations will boost connections between the West Coast and Silicon Valley. The launch will allow tech professionals to book plane tickets between these two cities and fulfill a long cherished dream. Apparently, the airline held talks with the state economic development officials and members of the local tech community to arrive at this decision.

This connection is looked at as a blessing by the tech community. The airline considered repeated pleas of technology leaders demanding a nonstop service. These leaders had been complaining that the lack of direct flights has hampered the local tech industry. At some point, the now-dysfunctional local carrier ATA Airlines offered service to northern California City.

The airline believes that this service is going to boost the business in the area. It said that a lot of business was going away from the Silicon Valley for a simple reason that it took a time to reach the destination. This direct connection is expected to boost commerce and economics of the Silicon Valley manifold.
