United to offer business class seats on Boeing 787-9 to Melbourne

United Airlines is set to deploy the newest version of Boeing Dreamliner to Melbourne. The commercial airline based out of Chicago will soon launch Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 aircraft between Los Angeles and Melbourne. It expects the news to bring joy to passengers located on either side of the Pacific Ocean.

Passengers will soon be able to book and fly business class seats on the Dreamliner 787-9 planes. Beginning October 26, 2014 the airline will offer six flights per week between the city pair. Though the decision is final, it is still waiting for a green signal from the concerned authorities.

The airline is keen to upgrade this route with a state-of-the-art aircraft. It had earlier announced its intentions to bid goodbye to the services of the now aging Boeing 747 planes. The B747s do not contain seat fitted monitors in the economy class for the entertainment of the passengers during their journey. It will instead deploy the latest B777s planes on Melbourne-Los Angeles and San Francisco-Sydney itineraries.

The new Dreamliner is equipped with a seating capacity for 252 passengers. Of the 252 seats, 48 are available in Business Class. The seats in this class are fully flat bed seats that stretch up to 1.98 meters when flat. Other features include 49cm personal monitor, and power points. Apart from these, 63 seats are available in Economy Plus in a 3:3:3 arrangements. The rest 141 seats are available in the Economy Class in the standard format.
